The children and youth of our community are very dear to us.  They are an important part of our worship and are always welcome to stay during the service.

We also offer child care during the church service and adult education time because we understand that sometimes it is hard for a child to sit through church.

All of our youth are encouraged to participate in activities of our church that reach out to the community such as our feeding the homeless at Trinity Church in St. Louis.

We occasionally have our youth lead the worship service.  The first time was on April 29, 2007 and the second was on Aug. 19, 2007 when Bishop Smith visited us.

Education

Children have several opportunities for increasing their knowledge of Jesus and growing their faith.

  • Youth Education - most Sundays our middle and high school youth meet at Blevins or at the parish house from 11:30 to 12:15 to discuss issues of spirituality, self, and society.  We also have a range of fun and service outings for the group.
  • During the first half of the regular church service, children are invited to go to a children's chapel where they sing songs, hear a simplified version of the same Bible readings for the day, and often do a craft related to the Bible readings.

  • Children then return to the church service where the Pastor gives a children's sermon.  Mthr. Melanie is a great storyteller and the children always love to listen to her talks.

  • In 2007 we had 3 youth confirmed.  Confirmation is a public reaffirmation of their baptismal vows.  This was held at the Episcopal Cathedral downtown.
